Where does Hughston Homes build?

Hughston Homes understands that location is very important. As a result, we currently build in several prime locations across Georgia and Alabama.

How long will it take to build my home?

Slab foundations usually take between 120-150 days and basement foundations take around 150-180 days to construct. However, delays such as weather, governmental codes, and permitting can delay that time frame. Bare in mind that those estimates are based on our average 3000 sq. ft. home. If you have a desired move-in date, let us know and we will tell you about the opportunities that align with your timeframe.

Can we customize the floor plan and/or configuration e.g., move an existing wall?

Small alterations may be allowed to accommodate each buyer, but not any alterations that effect the structural bones of the home.

Can I build a Hughston Home on my own land?

At this time, we do not build on personal land as we are very busy building homes inside of our communities. We would love to offer this, but at this time we must stick to the schedule so that our Hughston Homes Family’s homes are completed on time. Please contact us to let us know your needs so that when we decide to offer this option we can contact you.

I currently own a home. Can Hughston Homes sell it while I personalize my new home?

Absolutely! We can align your new home’s completion date with the sell of your current home. Our New Home Specialists will work with our marketing team to use ahead of the curve techniques and strategy to help your home reach the most possible buyers and sell for top dollar when it’s time.

I'm currently in a lease, but want to build/personalize my home while I wait for my lease to end. Is this possible?

Certainly! With our exclusive scheduling technology, we can align your brand new home’s build with your desired move-in date. Other than earnest money, no upfront fees are required until closing (depending on loan type). Your mortgage payment will be due 1-2 months after you move-in, depending on the date of your closing.

Is Hughston Homes negotiable with pricing?

Hughston Homes makes every effort to maintain the value of not only your home but the values of all the homes in the community by not negotiating prices.

Does Hughston Homes offer any incentives?

Yes! Hughston Homes has excellent relations with several experienced lenders in Georgia and Alabama. Because we trust them to offer a great experience and get the necessary financing items executed in time for your promised move-in date, we offer up to $3,000 in builder incentives when you obtain financing through one of them.

Are the appliances included?

Hughston Homes includes the stainless steel range, microwave, and dishwasher in your new home’s price. We have several fridge options that you can add into your home’s price and our chef-inspired gourmet kitchen package that can be added as well.

Do Hughston Homes communties have a homeowners association (HOA).

Typically any community five years or newer will have some form of an HOA in order to keep home values high. The minimal HOA fees will cover maintaining the common areas, signage and landscaping at the front entrance, and common utilities.

Depending on the community and area, sometimes Hughston Homes does not include an HOA.

What size homes does Hughston Homes build?

Hughston’s home plan libary includes home plans that range from 1,975 to 4,304 heated and cooled square feet (garage, game day porch, front porch, basement, attic. are not included in this square footage). Each community offers its own collection of home plans, planned for unique design and appearance, and each home plan offers various architectural exteriors.

Does Hughston Homes offer a home warranty?

Absolutely! All Hughston Homes include a 1 Year Limited Warranty and Customer Care Guarantee.

If building material prices increase once the constuction has started on my home, will my home's price increase?

Absolutely not! Since we have been building new homes for nearly half a century, we have great relationships with our trade partners and suppliers. Once you sign your agreement, your new home’s price is secured.

When does Hughston Homes have open houses?

Our Gallery Model Homes are open 7 days a week. Walk-ins are welcome, but it’s best to schedule a private tour in order to guarantee one-on-one attention from our New Home Specialist. During your tour, we will tell you more about Hughston Homes as a company, show you all included features, and discover more about your new home vision so that we can help pin point the perfect home plan that aligns with your needs.

Does Hughston Homes offer Zoom or Facetime tours? We are relocating, but want to plan before our arrival.

Absolutely! We offer virtual tours via Facetime and Zoom 7 days a week. If needed, you can complete the entire process from start to finish virtually. We have hundreds of happy homeowners who have virtually personalized their home from Japan, Germany, China, California, New York, Colorado, Texas, Florida, and many more locations hundreds of miles away.

I toured one of your gallery model homes. How much of what I saw will be included in my home?

At Hughston Homes, what you see is what you get! All luxury features that you see in our Gallery Model Homes are INCLUDED in your new home purchase. We also offer additional upgrades that you can add if you desire.

Do you work with first time buyers?

Absolutely! Around 40% of our Hughston Homes Family are first time homeowners. Our trusted lending partners are experts in VA, USDA, FHA, and Conventional Loans and are ready to answer all of your questions and deliver a smooth home financing experience.

I know that Hughston Homes inclueds a lot of upgrades already, but if I choose to add any additional upgrades, can I add them to my financing?

Your Lending Officer will be able to answer specific questions about financing options for adding additional upgrades into the sales price of your new home. Please remember that we require 50% of the cost of the upgrades at selection when you use our trusted lender or 100% of the cost of the upgrades when you use a lender that is not a trusted partner.

Can I build a shed or outbuilding on my property?

Most communities will allow the homeowner to have an outbuilding, but each is governed by it’s own Community Covenants and Restrictions. Typically, the shed or outbuilding will have to be constructed of the same material as your home and match the design. Some communities do not include an HOA.
