This award means a lot to us because it was voted straight from the people we work with every single day. Being acknowledged for hard work always feels like an honor, but this one feels a little more personal. It reminds us of all the conversations, walkthroughs, and relationships that we have cultivated over the years. Edgar Hughston started building homes as a small dream right here in Columbus, and over the past 50+ years, it has grown into a family business carried on by two generations. In 2021, our sense of family grew even more when Hughston Homes became 100 percent employee owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. This was an impactful step for us and our team of 100+ employees. It gave people that show up every day and make things happen real stake in the company they’ve helped build. Our team cares about the families they serve, the connections they make, and the Hughston Home’s family.

Seth Keller from Hughston Homes’ Customer Care department is a perfect example. Seth first came to Hughston Homes as a homeowner, building his first home with us in 2020 after moving to Auburn. The design process is what initially drew him in, but the smooth process and a team that cared made him stay. That experience meant so much to him that he felt called to become part of the team and has since gone on to build two more Hughston Homes.
