Opelika, Alabama is a city with a rich historical heritage. While European descent settlers first arrived in the late 1830’s, Opelika saw its initial growth after the Civil War when it was chosen as the county seat for the newly created Lee County. In decades passing Opelika became a hub for the agricultural industry with the flourishing of the cotton industry and a major rail line passing through it. The city has been growing ever since.
